3 Aug 08 |Otium Ludens - Leisure and Play: Ancient Relics of the Roman Empire(18 Jul - 5 Oct 2008)

Went to the Museum of Art in Hong Kong with Christine, Yasuko and Yukari at the early morning (yes is early for a sunday! we meet at the central pier at 10 something and go to TST together).

I was going there alone but they like museum too (that's great! I never go to art museum with friends in Hong Kong, just a few time with my sisters) so we meet today for that.

The exhibition was mainly showing the art from Roman Empire period Pompeii, many of them were not in once pieces and I was amazed how people now join them together again, even thought still lots of missing part. Before I go there I already know what sort of thing they are going to show, but then when I enter the hall it was already shocking - your feeling would be affected by the lighting and the interior design of the exhibition. I can't take any photo, but the whole thing look really grand but cold, and the videos showing around in the hall, on the ground about that city, its beautiful and sad, I feel like I was standing in front of the most elegant cemetery ever -- understanding life is fragile, the people in the city dies in a very short time, the destruction wreaked by the eruption of Vesuvius... you can see what's people left for you were their works, their art from 2000 years ago. when you really try to look at the works and think of the whole story behind it, it just hurt ...

Museum of Art spend so much time and effort to get the art to HK, spending a lot of money for the exhibition and it only cost 20 BUCKS to enter. When you are only thinking of how to earn more money (ok its normal but please don't put it on your forehead all the time and meet every new friends was draging out if they are "useful" for your business), please go to have a look - I'm sure it help people from the very materialized city think of the meaning of life, again, more than a brand hang bag or a Rolls-Royce to show off.

The life style and art there remind me of how pretty Rome was, Rome and Santorini were 2 places I would love to go back again in Europe. The drawing of the building and the life style of people that time was just so elegent - and gay. Why? not that I pull world in their mouth, one piece of the art there were a poem that wrote in Greek, the translation means something like, "if an handsome man don't have sex with an other men, then he shouldn't have sex with the women when he fall in love with her " ... I was like HUH?! -- ok I think this is understandable.... let me explain a little : Ancient Greece and Roman philosophers tell people that you need to fall in love with your mind, not only your body. But women that time didn't have much education and they are not thinking as much as men does, so for the spritiual men can only talk about life, share thoughts, love another educated person, which are all men.... thus they fall in love (this is so Yaoi.) then they have sex as well (Tell me I'm wrong but I read many book talk about the same thing ...) << Hang on - isn't it sounds like women nowadays (that guys are brainless and women are too smart for them?!)

WE SHOULD ALL BECAME LESBIAN I RECKON! COME ON GIRLS KISS ME!

(joking.)

Most of the art are not in one piece, but still there showing many of them you can at least tell what's the drawing is. I want to say more but don't want to be 'boring', but personaly I think this exhibition is better than many of the previous show in HK.
