14-15 March 2008
Didn't think I would go to Europe again that soon (Went to Greece and England in 2007 SEP [Link here]) ... but this is my birthday! For some reason, also because I book everything too late, the money I would have to spend in Asia (I was going to Nepal / Combodia) will be same with I travel to Europe.... so I did.

Right - my plan was going to Madrid in Spain, Lisbon/Fatima and some other cities in Portugal. Now I'm taking the flight from Hong Kong to London, then transit from London to Madrid. a long day ...

Didn't manage to get a window seat (damn, I love to see stars at night, the way from Asia to Europe is always great to see those stars by naked eyes ) Now show you some photo of London Gatwick airport (haha...)

Got the window seat on the flight leaving UK though. look at the sky ...

Boom!

Yup I'm already in Madrid ... But let me talk a bit about the arrival. Haven't take photos in airport because I was rush to go to the city to get the hostel.

I went to Barcelona at 2003, and this is the 2nd time I come to Spain, but first time in Madrid. Barcelona is a city that speak a tiny bit of English, which is expected because Spainish is such a big lanugage and they won't see a point to learn English. However, it was a tourist city so you can still find some sign board, menu, places in English.

But I was shocked that in Madrid airport, I can't find any English signage. People seems speak less English compare to Barcelona as well. I was just looking for a tourist information to get a free map (that I often do when I travel ) and ask for where's the bloody train to go to the city ... I couldn't find any.

Then I just go to queue the line that the booth LOOK LIKE a tourist information centre - and the guy (luckily, speak English!) said it wasn't the booth, the tourist information is over there (where I already walk passed)

When I walk back, then look at the sign ... "tourist information' in SPANISH!

¡Te amo gente española! :-@

Find the place I stay wasn't diffcult, but to wait until I can get to my room take ages. the reception is super slow ... the Australian and French dudes next to me keep complaining ... and extremly slow for a person come from Hong Kong, every thing are quick quick quick .... *Spainish speed*

Walked towards city centre ... view of Madird

Around Museo el Prado area ( Finally I never get in it) , the church "lglesia de los Jeronimos" ...

more views

Walk toward "Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía", free entrance today (saturday)! but hang on, I haven't eat yet .... *get some quick lunch-dinner*

Some shrimp fried rice, not the Paella... just a normal quick one. I was staving.

Then I enter the museum ... most "famous" art showing are from Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso.

I remember when I was around 14 years old there's art of Miró showing in HK museum and I visited it ... I feel scary and didn't understand. Now I look at it was just ... don't understand.

To be honest I'm not a fan of Picasso, not because I didn't understand his art (his early art which still draw 'normal' painting was good though, however..) was because the art after and the topic and how he touture people around him by his art was SCARY. I couldn't believe it and when ever I stand in front of his art I feel horrible. I mean sorry, yes I'm impressed, but I just can't like them. I'm old fashioned and I'm still in 15 century (The Renaissance period)

Cannot take photo in the muesum so I took some at the part in the middle othe museum lol. The museum is HUGE, but of course don't compare to de lourve

After 2 hours in the museum (yeah I didn't stay too long) was already night time ... I walk around a lot until it completely dark and jet lag pull me into bed.
